Telefónica to acquire German DSL-provider Hansenet
2009-11-06 -
The Spanish telecommunications provider and Telecom Italia have reached an agreement: Telefonica will acquire Hansenet for 900 million Euros in cash.
The acquisition will make Telefónica O2 Germany the number three player in the German market in terms of revenue. The competition authorities still need to approve the transaction. Telefónica expects the deal to be finalized during the first quarter of 2010.
Telefónica O2 Germany will add Hansenet’s DSL customers (currently 2.2 million) and sees the opportunity to serve bundle-offers of mobile and fixed net products.
